Matthew Mays Eshelman (1844-1921)

Matthew Mays Eshelman (1844-1921) was a Church of the Brethren minister and author. While living in Pennsylvania Eshelman became a schoolteacher for several years, and then became a co-editor of a Christian newspaper called The Brethren at Work. He would later move to Illinois and then Kansas, and while in Kansas he was instrumental in founding McPherson College and was editor of an Anglo-Israel newspaper called Israel at Work in the 1880s. In 1887 he wrote the book Two Sticks or the Lost Tribes of Israel Discovered identifying the Anglo-Saxon people as Israel.
